Treats
Last night for mutual we made rice krispie treats and muddy buddies. Originally we had planned on going ice skating (as a reward for finally finishing 1st Nephi, see this post). But since half of our girls couldn't come and the two girls who did come were sick and exhausted, we decided to instead make some treats for those girls. Since we had a lot extra, we also delivered some to our Bishop and his executive secretary, who were at the church that night. It was a fun and easy night that I think the girls enjoyed, and the two girls who were gone were grateful for the treat and to know that we remembered them. We'll be rescheduling ice skating for another night.

PPP Party: Patriotic
Last night for mutual it was the first Tuesday of the month, so we had our PPP party, this month with a patriotic theme for the 4th of July. We brought red, white and blue nail polish and let the girls paint their nails. We also used metallic sharpie markers to draw designs on our painted nails.
We played a round of Patriotic bingo, found here. We forgot to print the state cards, so we had to come up with all 50 states to write down and cut up before we played. We used M&M's as our pieces and snacked on those all night.
We also printed out these Patriotic conversation starters just for fun.
We also made these red, white and blue drinks. We're not big fans of pina colada flavor, so we used a white powerade drink instead that worked fine. Everyone was very impressed, even thought we only had small cups to make these in.

Since I'm over personal progress in our ward, I sat down with each girl individually and talked about how their goals are going. We are still working on our Book of Mormon Challenge. We are all still in 1st Nephi, so we haven't earned any rewards yet unfortunately.
At the end of the night we went outside and played with those little poppers to get even more in the 4th of July mood. It was a great night and everyone had fun.

Sunday Special: Book Of Mormon Challenge
Two of our girls both have their virtue goals completed, so to help them be motivated to finish the corresponding value project (which is to read the Book of Mormon), we started the Book of Mormon Challenge today, as presented by the blog Some Sweet Talking Girl (http://somesweettalkinggirl.blogspot.com/2012/04/book-of-mormon-challenge.html). This will be the first value project these girls will have completed, so we really wanted to make sure they stuck with it.
We gave each girl and leader a copy of this bookmark, which offers incentives for getting through different books of scripture. Once everyone (girls and leaders) is through, we get the reward! We may tweak a few activities as we go (this version is actually a tweaked one, the original is here: http://www.sugardoodle.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=7152:book-of-mormon-incentive-boomark&catid=5047:bookmarks). We attached a scripture tracking chart to the back also help everyone easily record how far they are. I think the girls are really excited and hopefully we can knock it out this summer!
